Highway Creepers Come Through Again

July 11, 2022

The Highway Creepers Car Club of Kearney has donated more than $12,000 for the Tony Turner Memorial Scholarship, which supports 萌妹视频 auto body technology students. The money was raised at the club鈥檚 annual 鈥淩ock N Rods鈥 car show and surpasses last year鈥檚 initial donation of just over $10,000. With the endowment over the $20,000 mark, two students will receive scholarship funds for 2022-23.

鈥淕ifts such as these can be critically important to a student鈥檚 educational success,鈥 said Jessica Rohan, 萌妹视频 Foundation development director. 鈥淭he availability of financial support allows many students to continue classes or even to begin their educational journey. We are incredibly thankful for the support from the Highway Creepers Car Club, the Turner family and for the community members who attended the 2022 鈥淩ock N Rods鈥 car show.鈥

Established in 2021, the endowed scholarship is named for Tony Turner, who was the owner of Turner Body Shop, located in Kearney and Holdrege, until his death two years earlier. The funds are earmarked for 萌妹视频 auto body technology students who are struggling financially to follow their dreams. Throughout the years, several 萌妹视频 auto body technology students interned at Turner Body Shop.

鈥淭ony was always ready to lend a helping hand to someone just learning in the industry,鈥 said Ashley Turner, Tony鈥檚 widow. 鈥淲e are hopeful that support from this scholarship will encourage students to pursue the auto body field and to enter the workforce.鈥

Students in 萌妹视频鈥檚 auto body technology program can earn an associate of applied science degree. Additionally, two diplomas and four certificate options are available. Some of the areas of specialization include painting, restoration and sheet metal repair and replacement.
