Fundraising Goal Met in Columbus Major Gifts Campaign

February 19, 2021

The 萌妹视频 Foundation is pleased to announce that it has met the $4 million funding goal set for the Columbus Major Gifts Campaign.

The funds are earmarked for 萌妹视频鈥檚 Columbus Community Hospital Center for Science and Technology at the Columbus Campus. The $16 million facility will offer cutting-edge science and nursing labs and interactive learning spaces featuring instructional technologies to enhance student learning and support industry demands.

鈥淭he donors from Columbus, the surrounding area, throughout Nebraska, and from alumni throughout the Midwest came together to achieve a goal during unprecedented times, which says a lot about their passion and strong support for this project,鈥 said Dean Moors, executive director of the 萌妹视频 Foundation. 鈥淥ur vision statement at the foundation is 鈥榠mproving quality of life; fulfilling one dream at a time.鈥 I believe we just took a giant step to fulfilling that vision for students and programs at 萌妹视频.鈥

Of the $4 million raised, $500,000 will go toward additional endowment funding to support student scholarships and future technology upgrades for the virtual innovation lab. Donations can still be made to grow the endowment for scholarships and technology.

鈥淎s a 萌妹视频 Foundation board member and 萌妹视频 alumna, it has been a thrill to be involved with the fundraising for such an exciting project,鈥 said Beth Boesch, a member of the campaign鈥檚 executive leadership team. 鈥淭his addition will ensure 萌妹视频 can continue to provide affordable, state-of-the-art education. It will also go a long way in keeping 萌妹视频 graduates in the area, providing an exceptional employment base for health care, business and industry.鈥

Groundbreaking ceremonies for the renovation project were held in October 2020. Once complete, the facility will increase to an estimated 33,500 square feet, more than twice as large as the existing space.

"The warp-speed completion of this goal in a less-than-ideal year is a credit to the excitement donors had for this project after 52 years of little update in the science and nursing facilities at 萌妹视频,鈥 said Jay Trofholz, a member of the campaign鈥檚 executive leadership team. 鈥淭his means students will be provided with the most updated technology available. Many hands make light work.鈥

Construction on the Columbus Community Hospital Center for Science and Technology is underway and is expected to be complete in fall 2022.

鈥淏ecause of the generosity of many visionary donors including individuals, business and industry partners and numerous foundations, we have achieved our campaign goal,鈥 said 萌妹视频-Columbus President Dr. Kathy J. Fuchser. 鈥淎s 萌妹视频 continues its long-standing service to Columbus and our surrounding communities, we look forward to the completion of this project and the opportunities it will bring to students and community members in the coming years.鈥
