The Hastings Campus celebration is on April 11 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The celebrations start at the Hall Student Union to participate in the plant-and-take activity, where there will be a variety of herbs and native plants to take home with you. Afterward, join us for the annual bike ride to the wind turbine, where Taylor Schneider, energy technology program instructor, will conduct a tour. This year, Schneider is offering an equipment checkout sheet for anyone interested in climbing to the top with his students.

Event Schedule: 

The Kearney Center celebration will be April 16 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the main entrance. There will be several local organizations for the student expo, including Kearney Sustainability Movement, Crane Trust and Rowe Sanctuary. Students 4 Sustainability will be offering students their own microgreen kit, but there are limited materials so come while supplies last. Following the expo, there will be a tour of the sustainable features of the Kearney Center, one of the most energy efficient buildings in Nebraska.

10-11 a.m. - Tour of the sustainable features of the Kearney Center (meet by the main entrance).

11 a.m.-1 p.m. - Sustainability expo in main entrance. Students 4 sustainability will be doing a microgreen giveaway for students (limited supplies).

The Grand Island Campus will be hosting its annual Earth Day event on April 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activity and resource tables will be set up along the 200-300 wing hallway between the bookstore and the Grand Central Cafe. A spring picnic lunch will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will be a candle making event that allows students to take their own handmade candles home. Jars are included and you will have the option to choose the colors and scent for your candle. The tables set up along the hallway will host community resourses from repair services to help with specific needs such as addiction, housing or financial assistance.

10 a.m.-1 p.m. – Community resource and repair fair. S4S is providing homemade candles for students to take home.

11 a.m.-1 p.m. – Free spring picnic lunch for students.

������Ƶ-Columbus will host its Earth Day celebration on April 23 in the west education center. During this event, Students 4 Sustainability (S4S) will be hosting a simple terrarium build for any students interested. S4S will provide jars, sticks, rocks, soil, plant cuttings and charcoal. This event will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or until materials run out. Ben Newton's principals of biology II class will be leading an outdoor tour from 1 to 3 p.m.

10 a.m.-1 p.m. – Build your own terrarium in the West Education Center (limited supplies).

1-3 p.m. – Student bird/plant tour of Lake Babcock (meet in east parking lot).
